Using these online media channels, digital marketing is the method by which companies endorse goods, services, and brands. Consumers heavily rely on digital means to research products. For example, Think with Google marketing insights found that 48% of consumers start their inquiries on search engines, while 33% look to brand websites and 26% search within mobile applications.

So to start with let us begin with the most common problem and this one is a bonus problem with a familiar solution.

Why does each and every one of us want instant results?

Why/where are we lacking behind?

We often hear things like “I need to be on all the social media channels”, but when we ask “why?” people don’t always have an answer. And then when they do, their answer is along the lines “because everyone is doing it” or this is what we’ve always done.

While you definitely want to know what your competitors are doing, trying to be revolutionary/transformative won’t help. The most effective use of marketing is to first define your goals and then choose specific marketing tactics that will help you achieve them.

Digital Marketing is an uprising method in the marketing area. It lifts the internet to reach the maximum target audience. Many case studies have proved that digital marketing is cheaper than traditional marketing but digital marketing is a bit complex way. If it’s not done correctly, it can cause you unfit/unsuitable spending.

So this blog will mainly focus on how to avoid the most  5 common digital marketing mistakes. These problems can arise in any online marketing, for example, SEO, Email marketing, inbound or outbound, social, content marketing, or paid advertising.

1.Untracked Results

Almost all businesses are focused on numbers. The common financial/economic patterns are Assets, Liabilities, Expenses, Investment, Profitability, balance sheet. It is so surprising to see that many businesses still do not track their primary performance for their marketing.

The biggest hurdle in implementing a digital marketing campaign is the lack of clear metrics to measure campaigns.

2. Target Audience Unsuitable Content

The platform of digital marketing permits/allows the marketers, vendors, promoters to choose their Platform, Audience, and Content. Still, it is observed that marketing strategies fail to match these three correctly. Giving some slacks to digital marketers, the probability of success can be 25%, even if they can match the content and audience.

Content without a target audience is like pizza without cheese. There are eight possible permutations and combinations out of which only one is correct.

The probability of getting it right is 12.5%. One of the most common examples of customer targeting is Best Buy. A “Buzz” customer is a young tech enthusiast. Similarly a “Jill” customer is a suburban mom who might be slightly intimidated by tech jargon. Best Buy went so far as to build stores that would cater to one or more of those customer types. In other words, Best Buy – a store that could theoretically have appealed to everybody; knew that they needed to target their customers as precisely as possible.

3. Less Importance To SEO

SEO is made up of multiple different elements. Knowing what they are and how they work is key to understanding why SEO is so important. SEO is significant as it makes your website more visible. This means more traffic and more opportunities to convert prospects into customers. The first step of the customer journey to reach the desired product or service starts with a  search engine.

Did you know?

There are 3.5 billion searches performed every day on Google?

This means that no matter your line of work, people are searching for your business online. According to the Search Engine Journal, 93% of online experiences begin with a search engine. There are over two billion blog posts alone popping up on the Internet every day. 67% of all clicks go to the first five organic results. SEO has become a critical component to the online success of businesses. Those who want to make sure that their organizations have a strong presence, and are ready to engage the modern customer, need to invest in learning SEO. This will help in becoming domain experts. SEO requires patience. In return, your campaign will grow over time and drive the results you desire.

4. Website Interface

In the context of websites, a web interface is a page that users interact with when a site is fully downloaded on a web browser. The most common goal of digital marketing is to generate traffic through their website. As the website is the place where leads are generated, and actual sales may happen. Website is the key and main lead for maximum customer engagement, and the more the customer browses the website chances of generating business increases. Some of the common mistakes in website designing are i) Business invests in the website as a one-time activity, especially in the B2B context. ii) The website’s flow is not customer friendly; many time visitors are clueless about what to do on the website. iii) Too much content and too little content is also a problem. iv) Many company websites are not compatible with mobile or tablet.

 5. Forgetting To Remarket

Have you ever thought why companies are always focusing on acquiring new leads but neglecting to get those leads to convert?

Remarketing refers to targeting those customers who showed interest in your products but could not complete the sales cycle. Neglecting remarketing can be considered a loss of digital marketing spending since all the efforts and money were invested in converting the lead into a customer. New customer acquisition is more costly than converting existing leads since remarketing leads require a nudge towards conversion. Companies fail to remarket because of poor data collection.
